Backed by experience in hyper-growth tech, Hoge will help turn untapped demand for women’s sports into the next breakout U.S. sports property.
WPSL Pro, the emerging women’s professional soccer league launching in 2027, is proud to announce Anne Hoge as our Founding Chief Executive Officer.
Her appointment signals a defining moment for women’s soccer: the arrival of institutional leadership, global business experience and authentic soccer credibility to a league designed to change the system.
“WPSL Pro is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a league that’s professional, sustainable, and rooted in the players and communities that power the game,” said Hoge. “We’re not here to follow the old playbook. We’re here to write the next one.”
Hoge has built her career at the center of hyper-growth businesses and cultural movements. She has held senior leadership roles at WhatsApp, Meta, Robinhood and Calm, where she helped secure world-class investors, scale products globally and deliver billions in enterprise value — including the landmark sale of WhatsApp to Meta.
As an investor and advisor, Hoge has backed some of the most important women’s sports and media ventures of the past decade. She was a founding investor of Bay FC, the NWSL‘s 14th franchise. She also serves on the board of the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI), a nonprofit that uses the power of women’s sports to provide girls access to sport and leadership programming.
A former Division I soccer player at Stanford University and Olympic Development Program participant, Hoge understands the game from the inside.
“Anne brings unmatched credibility, clarity, and leadership to this moment,” said Sean Jones, Co-Founder of WPSL Pro. “She’s been in billion-dollar boardrooms, on the pitch at Stanford, and in the founding circle of a new NWSL franchise. She’s the leader this league — and this moment — demands.”
Her mandate at WPSL Pro: build long-term league value and infrastructure, empower new ownership groups, create sustainable pathways for players, elevate women in executive leadership and ignite authentic opportunities for fans, communities and partners.
About WPSL Pro
WPSL Pro is rewriting the future of women’s soccer in the United States. Launching in 2027 as a new lower-division pro league, WPSL Pro fuses the grassroots credibility of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) — the world’s largest women’s soccer league and home to icons like Alex Morgan, Catarina Macario, Rose Lavelle and Brandi Chastain — with an unapologetic vision for professional development and commercial success.
Built by committed founding leadership and investors, including Cleveland Soccer Group and Carolina Core Soccer Ventures, WPSL Pro brings institutional expertise together with community-driven ownership. More than a league, it is a platform: one that connects local roots to national stages, creates new career pathways for players and executives, and proves that the future of women’s sports is being built from the ground up.
