Oklahoma City (September 24, 2024) – WPSL PRO has named its 13th LOI submission as the league continues to widen its national reach ahead of its debut launch. With the announcement, WPSL PRO confirms its latest market secures Southern California, joining the league’s first West Coast team, The Town FC.
SoCal WPSL PRO is led by Aaron Rodriguez who has been regularly involved in the Southern California soccer scene. Most recently Rodriguez has served as the executive director of current WPSL club, FC Premier – which concluded its fourth season in the league’s first division after making a postseason appearance in the 2024 West Region Playoffs.
“We are thrilled to bring the first ever Division 3 and WPSL PRO womens’ professional soccer team to Southern California,” Rodriguez said. “With the historical partnership of Oaks Sports Holding Management and their proven success in leadership, our vision is to create a team that not only competes at the highest level but also deeply connects with our community.”
Oaks Sports Holding Management and Mark Noorzai have joined Rodriguez as a key partnership in pushing this project forward and putting Southern California on the WPSL PRO map. Oaks Sports Holding Management currently operates the commercial side of Ventura County FC – the first professional men’s soccer team in Ventura County that competes in MLS NEXT Pro.
“We’re excited to have Aaron’s group join our league and to add another West Coast team to our national footprint,” Benno Nagel, WPSL PRO project manager, said. “Southern California has long been one of the strongest U.S. markets for women’s soccer and the involvement of Mark Noorzai, and his group with Oaks Sports Holding Management, is a tremendous sign of the potential that this club has to deliver something special to the entire SoCal soccer community.”
Through the SoCal WPSL PRO project, Rodriguez believes the power of soccer will inspire and connect his community together.
“Our mission is to empower women through sports, provide a platform for talented athletes, and cultivate a strong connection with our fans and community,” Rodriguez said. “Our team will be a source of pride for Southern California and a beacon for young athletes who dream to play professional soccer.”
