OKLAHOMA CITY (September 4, 2024) – In an official announcement, WPSL PRO unveils its latest LOI submission brought forth via a sports investment group from Wichita, Kan. In addition to the announcement, the league continues to build its national footprint ahead of its 2025 launch.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to press forward in preparations for our inaugural launch with Wichita’s commitment to PRO’s mission in developing new pathways within the women’s game by making it more accessible across the United States,” Benno Nagel, WPSL PRO project director, said. “They will be a fantastic asset to the WPSL PRO family.”
The Women’s Premier Soccer League has been tied to Wichita and the state of Kansas over the last decade and has seen a wide group of alumnae from the region take the next steps to the professional ranks. These historical roots have created a growing passion for increased development in the area that will enhance the quality of the sport in the surrounding communities – a necessity WPSL PRO is eager to fulfill.
“Locking in this Wichita market has been a pivotal part in bridging WPSL PRO’s landscape in the Heartland region,” Nagel said.
Wichita’s inclusion strengthens the base of the current midwest clubs which have already submitted LOIs to WPSL PRO including organizations in Oklahoma, Texas, and the Dakotas. This Heartland footprint creates greater density to support WPSL PRO’s regional competition model.
